Indigenous Commitment

Sanjel Energy Services believes that strong, mutually beneficial relationships with Indigenous Peoples are an important component of supporting the communities we operate in. We believe that by building lasting relationships with these communities, we can help contribute to their economic empowerment and social sustainability.

Our business practices and policies recognize both inherent and treaty indigenous rights, including the Aboriginal and Treaty rights of First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples embedded in Canada’s Constitution. The path towards reconciliation is a journey, and we are committed to ensuring our teams understand Indigenous identities, values, and the role we all play in building a more inclusive society in Canada.

It is important that our relationships with Indigenous Peoples provide real benefits to the communities and territories we work in. With that at the forefront, our commitment to Indigenous communities is focused on two key areas:

Recruitment

We invest in the educational advancement of Indigenous youth to support both individuals and ultimately, contribute to the sustainability of communities. Sanjel Energy provides summer student and internship opportunities, where possible, for Indigenous youth within our operating areas.

Economic Development

We continue to broaden our network of Indigenous sub-contractors, vendors and employees to contribute to the economic and social well-being of Indigenous communities in which we operate. We are committed to participating in events with organizations who foster business connections and demonstrate measurable efforts to increase our Indigenous spend within our procurement process. Sanjel Energy leverages existing charitable partnerships to support Indigenous communities’ cultures and priorities.
